Sponsorship Opportunities

Oki, Tansi, Hello:

On behalf of the Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary (AAWC) Steering Committee, thank you for taking an interest in our initiative to raise awareness and celebrate the cultural diversity of Canada’s Aboriginal People.

In the early 1990s, agencies serving the Aboriginal community in Calgary began organizing celebrations and events for the week leading up to National Aboriginal Day, held annually on June 21st. The summer solstice is a culturally significant day for many Aboriginal peoples which is now acknowledged across Canada.

This year AAWC is celebrating National Aboriginal Day on Saturday, June 24, 2017.

We will start with a free Caravan Pancake Breakfast, a competition Pow Wow and later in the afternoon feature nationally acclaimed musicians Susan Aglukark and Eagle & Hawk. Local musicians Green Tailfeathers and North Sound will also perform.

Elders, Chiefs, Dignitaries, Aboriginal Celebrities, members of the Aboriginal community, and corporate Calgary will also be in attendance.

AAWC, in partnership with the Calgary Stampede Indian Village, invites community members and sponsors to join the celebrations while enhancing their cultural awareness and under-standing on June 24, 2017. Supporters of AAWC events are acknowledged in a variety of ways throughout events and promotion; further details of sponsorship levels can be found with-in the enclosed package.

We encourage you to join this community initiative and to support Calgary’s week long cele-bration of Aboriginal culture and events.
